An LA-based film production company telling bold, genre-bending stories through the female lens.
le regard féminin
Derived from the French term for “the female gaze,” Femme Regard is a production company dedicated to reinventing cinematic roles through the female perspective. Focused on psychological horror and sci-fi storytelling, our work highlights women’s voices in bold, genre-driven narratives. We believe women have countless amazing stories to tell, yet they are all too often framed only through a male lens. Our films challenge societal pressures and restrictions placed on women, exploring new ways to break stereotypes.
We also believe women deserve equal opportunities in every aspect of filmmaking. Femme Regard strives to bring together talented female writers, directors, actresses, producers, cinematographers, sound operators, composers, editors, and more to create beautiful, boundary-pushing art. Our mission is to expand roles for women both in front of and behind the camera.
Co-founded in 2018 by Carolina Alvarez and Tessa Markle, Femme Regard produced several award-winning short films, 17 seasons of the Femme Regard Podcast, and in 2024 launched our debut psy-fi feature film, SYNC. Carolina now solely leads the company, continuing to build the brand around women-centered stories and diverse creators.

Meet Our Co-Founder & Creative Director: Carolina Alvarez
Drawn to genre filmmaking, she found the space to explore themes of control, voyeurism, and complex female perspectives — telling stories that challenge societal norms while captivating audiences.
Born in Queens, New York to immigrant parents from Poland and Colombia, Carolina Alvarez brings a rich cultural perspective to her storytelling. She graduated from AMDA with a BFA in Musical Theater, studying two years in New York before finishing her degree in Los Angeles.
Carolina’s love for classic films led her to filmmaking, and she quickly began self-teaching directing, editing, and writing her own scripts. Drawn to genre filmmaking, she found the space to explore themes of control, voyeurism, and complex female perspectives — telling stories that challenge societal norms while captivating audiences.
Through Femme Regard Productions, Carolina continues to craft bold, genre-bending narratives, from award-winning short films to her debut psy-fi feature, SYNC, and the upcoming short film Morning Shed, which will be shot on 16mm to capture a tactile, cinematic look. Her work centers women and diverse creators, pushing the boundaries of cinematic storytelling with each project.
